This collection of photos from Werner Möller comes from the 1975 Amateur World Championships in Mettet, Belgium. Don’t let the word “Amateur” deter you… a number of the cyclists competing in the were from Eastern Bloc nations, where turning pro was not an option, so the races were extremely competitive and very difficult to win. The winner of this race was André Gevers from Netherlands, and Sven Ake Nilson from Sweden came in second. Many greats earned their stripes in the Amateur circuit before turning pro.
